Festival of Remembrance, Saturday 9th November 2019, 7.30 pm – Featuring The Orpheus Singers, Southend Band, Southend Wind Orchestra plus Vision in Song (a blind veterans community choir) at The Plaza Centre, 600 Southchurch Road, Southend SS1 2PT.

Welcome to The Orpheus Singers, the all-female choir based in Hadleigh, Essex, very near to Southend on Sea.

Our 120+ members with an age range of 25 – 85 enjoy the exhilarating and uplifting joy of singing together.

2018 was a full and rewarding year for our choir.  It marked the 10th Anniversary since the choir’s inception in 2008 and we planned a full year’s programme, revisiting some of our favourite concerts and trying many new. As a registered charity, the concerts performed throughout the year will enable significant funds to be raised for a variety of local, national and international charities.  Over £4,500 was raised for charity last year.

For details of future concerts please see our Up and Coming Events section and our Concert Dates page.

Our Musical Director is David Clark who is ably assisted by Melody Wallace, Assistant Musical Director and Janet Walker, Accompanist.  With their support we can perform a challenging repertoire, something for all the audience to enjoy, spirituals, songs from stage and film, jazz, traditional, folk and pop.  In fact, we sing Bohemian Rhapsody and Ave Maria and everything in between!

A warm welcome awaits any new member. We rehearse on Tuesday evenings 7.30pm – 9.30pm at Hadleigh Methodist Church. If you would like further details of how to join or to arrange a concert for your charity or organisation, please contact via www.theorpheussingers.co.uk or phone our Choir Secretary on 07790 613622.
