AGM 2018 – Trustees’ Report

AGM – 26 June 2018

The Trustees of the Orpheus Singers are responsible for all choir matters relating to the Charities Commission and the Data Protection Act. In May 2018 the General Data Protection Regulation came into effect; it imposes additional obligations on organisations around data protection.  The Trustees took professional advice and additional measures were put in place to ensure we are compliant with these updated regulations.

As a registered charity it’s our aim and privilege to help many causes, both in our own community and across the globe.  In the past year we have raised an amazing £2,726.72.   We donated £761.92 to the Grenfell Tower Appeal; the British Legion and the RAF Benevolent Fund each received £341.39; Hadleigh Methodist Church received £152.51 towards their defibrillator appeal; we raised £450.03 for the Jazz Centre; we gave £319.22 to the Helen Rollason cancer charity; Southend Hospitals ForWards Appeal received £360.26.

Brings a whole new meaning to ‘singing for your supper’!  We are very proud of our wonderful choir’s achievements; many thanks to everyone for their support and help.

The Trustees would also like to say a big thank you to the Committee who put a lot of time and effort into making the choir run so smoothly, also to David, Melody and Janet for their patience and help. There are also many non Committee members who do a great deal of work on our behalf, a huge thank you to you all too.

Finally, a very big thank you to all our fabulous members, where would we be without your continued support.

THE TRUSTEES: Margaret Tickle, Marion Orchard, Sue Latchford, Linda Martin, Mo Harding, Kathleen Curtis and Chris Welbourn.
