AGM 2018 – Concert Manager’s Report

Concert Manager’s Report  2017 – 2018

It has been yet another successful year for the Orpheus Singers!

At the end of June last year we welcomed the Thanet male Voice Choir to the Salvation Army Temple, Hadleigh , where the ladies of the choir had provided a sumptuous tea prior to a joint concert which was thoroughly enjoyed by both Choirs.

We made a return visit to sing with them at Cliftonville during our 2018 Kent Tour

We had our usual Remembrance Concert at the Plaza Centre with The Orchestra and Band which was, as usual, very well attended and very much enjoyed by all.

We performed a “ Prelude to Christmas “ at the Wesley Methodist Church – a new venue for us and although we didn’t have a huge audience we loved performing A Ceremony of Carols to an appreciative audience.

At Christmas we sang in the Leigh Road Baptist church for Fairhavens Hospice Christmas service and , of course had our own traditional Christmas Concert at Westcliff High School For Boys , joined by Southend Band and Darlinghurst Academy School Choir .

2018 has been a very busy year and will continue to be so, it being our 10th anniversary year.

In March we were joined by Digby Fairweather and friends  for a concert to raise money for the Southend Jazz Centre  and in April had our reunion concert at Westcliff Boys School where our President , Sadie Nine , cut the anniversary cake and also sang with us . We were joined by past members of the choir for a very memorable occasion.

We look forward to singing again at Chelmsford Cathedral this week, to our Rat Pack concert at Sweyne Park School in June, to a joint concert with the Salvation Army Band in July, to a second fund raising concert for a Nepalese school at St Margaret`s Church in Leigh as well as our annual Remembrance and Christmas extravaganzas.

Thank you to all who sing in and attend the concerts making the occasions so vibrant and happy and also to all those who help both on the evening and beforehand, with publicity, refreshments and many other tasks. We couldn’t put on these lovely occasions without you all.
