Janet is the Head of Music at West Leigh Junior School where she runs a thriving music department. Under her direction the school choirs have performed at the Royal Festival Hall, the Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Purcell Room, as well as being regular performers at St. Paul’s Church, Covent Garden.
She is in much demand as accompanist and plays for several choirs and societies in the Southend area and for soloists, including three Southend Musicians of the Year. Janet is and has been the accompanist to the Leigh Orpheus Male Voice Choir since 1988.
Pam became accompanying about 40 years ago, playing for a few individuals at local Music Festivals. Since that time she has worked with ladies mixed, Church and children’s choirs and the Leigh Orpheus Male Voice Choir. She is currently the regular accompanist for the West Leigh School Choirs, the Westwood Singer W1 Choir, the Claire Singers and is on call to the Southend Seniors Singers .
Singing has always played an important part in Pam’s life and she was a founder member of the Fidelio Singers with whom she sang and played for 30 years. She has just completed 32 years as organist at St. Andrews Parish Church, Rochford – a temporary post which she took on for a month!
Pam considers it a privilege to be an accompanist and is happy to be one of this endangered species!
